These are all original designs based upon the ancient knot designs of Ireland's saints,scholars and scribes. All rings are "comfort fit" meaning that the inside edge of the ring is rounded and countoured for a comfortable fit.These rings are also made to last, Unlike many jewelers,We do not try to keep rings as light as possible, each ring is of a substancial weight, designed to last a lifetime.
About Terry Walsh;
Terry Walsh was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. At age 18 he was apprenticed to one of Irelands finest workshop on Dublins famed Grafton Street, the heart of Irish Goldsmithing craft. At age 25 he moved to the United States and began a distinguished career as a goldsmith and platinumsmith serving fine jewelry stores in Philadelphia and New York. Today, Terry lives and works from a small studio on the Coast of Maine.
With his family grown, Terry has turned his craft back to the designs of his native Ireland and introduces a collection of finely made traditional Irish jewelry.
Unlike most commercial celtic jewelry, which is usually a one piece casting, each of Terry's rings is constructed of many individual pieces which are hand polished and then soldered to the body of the ring. This technique has many advantages, allowing the individual elements and the background to be polished before the elements are soldered in place. The result is a highly defined relief between the knot design and the background. Finally the background is darkened in an ancient organic formula which further accentuates the design. This process is long and tedious, but the end result is extraordinary.
